We understand that your energy is best used when you can focus on artistic and academic endeavors, and building your business. With that in mind, Carnivorous Plant Resource (CPR) aims to keep fees as simple and transparent as possible so you can spend time on your work rather than fuzzy accounting. We will only charge one fee at time of product sale. This Fees & Payments Policy explains this fee, how you will receive your payment, and our policy on taxes.

This policy is a part of our Terms and Conditions. By opening a Carnivorous Plant Resource shop, you’re agreeing to this policy and our Terms and Conditions.

1. Commissions and Fees

Commission Fee

CPR charges a flat 25% commission on the value of each item sold through carnivorousplantresource.com. At time of sale, 25% will be deducted from the total amount before shipping fees and taxes. Here’s an example with simplified math:

James is selling a work of art for $100 which costs $10 to ship, and requires the collection of $10 for taxes. CPR will receive the full $120 (value of art + shipping + taxes) from the buyer, and pass along $95 of it to James. The full value of shipping, taxes, and 75% of the sale passes through to James. James is responsible for shipping the item and paying his taxes.

Currency Conversion

All products must be listed in USD, and all payouts will be made in USD via PayPal. This avoids immediate currency conversion fees upon receiving your money. Should you choose to convert the currency or withdraw it in a tender other than USD, PayPal or your payment processor will handle the conversion, and they may charge fees for doing so.

2. Fee Avoidance

Any action by a seller to avoid paying a fee is considered fee avoidance and is strictly prohibited by CPR. This includes, for example, encouraging buyers to purchase an item in your CPR shop through another venue. The price stated in each listing description must be an accurate representation of the sale. Sellers may not charge excessive shipping fees or taxes. Sellers may not alter the item’s price after a sale for the purpose of avoiding CPR fees or misrepresent the item’s location.

3. Receiving Payment

CPR will send you payment for items sold at the beginning of each month for the prior month’s sales minus the 25% commission fee for those items. Funds will be sent to you via PayPal in USD (United States Dollars). See Section 1 for more info on commission fee and our policy on accepting USD.

4. Taxes

You are responsible for collecting and paying any taxes associated with using and making sales through CPR’s services. Within each product listing, you will be given the option to set a tax level for that item, and it will be collected at time of sale. The full amount collected for taxes will pass through to you.
