This species tends to develop short, slender upright stems up to a foot tall, with leaves often no more than 2" in length and often flushed throughout in rich red color. The stem is topped often by a cluster of bright purple flowers with pale backs and heavily serrated petal edges. Like most Byblis, they require cross-pollination to produce seeds and do best with lots of room for the roots to spread. Packets contain approx. 10 seeds. Seeds do require special treatment (GA3 solution, smoke treatment, or similar) to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

A large rainbow plant form that can grow erect up to nearly 3 feet tall in some cases, under restricted conditions may form a scrambling vine to even greater lengths, with leaves that can be well over a foot long. Flowers are impressively large, nearly 2" across at times with bright purple petals bearing mildly serrated edges and bright yellow anthers in the center to contrast. Best grown in a large pot with lots of room for roots and overhead growth. Packets contain approx. 10+ seeds; seeds do require special treatment (GA3 solution, smoke treatment, or similar) to germinate. Byblis are uncommonly grown as is, hybrids even rarer especially as sometimes it's hard to get the cross to succeed. This particular hybrid however seems not only fairly easy to produce, but easy to grow as well thanks to the female parent. Exhibiting rapid growth, small and delicate flowers, and sometimes the self-pollinating traits of B. liniflora, it also sports serrated, darker purple petals, red flushes (sometimes, not always) in the stems and leaves, and a more slender, erect growth form like B. rorida. Packets contain approx. 15-20+ seeds each; seeds do require special treatment (GA3 solution, smoke treatment, or similar) to germinate. A mere handful of seed-grown clones currently available; this is a cross between two shockingly beautiful plants (supposedly both forms of moranensis) with a lot of potential. The mother plant averages 3-4" in diameter and makes small but eye-catching flowers that are brilliant white with electric violet highlights around the throat, the pollen parent can reach over 6" across at times and makes large flowers that sport elegantly slender, curving petals and a myriad of light and dark violet shades. Offspring should land somewhere in the middle, around 5" in diameter at full size and with flowers in shades of violet with dark spots near the throat (pictures represent adult siblings to demonstrate expected appearances).

Available plants are around 1.5-2" in diameter.

A compact Carlton Carnivores original hybrid reaching an average of around 2.5" in diameter, with a tight rosette of overlapping ovular leaves bearing curled edges that create a sharp-edged and pointed-tip appearance. Coloration is typically bright green throughout, with hints of pink blushing, though may develop deeper pinks depending on soil mixture and lighting strength. Flowers may appear at any time of year, though tend to cluster in late summer through winter, and are moderate size with obovate petals shaded in lavender-violet aging to pinkish lavender with darker blushing near the petal tips and a deeper grape coloration around the yellow palate and throat, particularly at the base of the upper petals. Available plants currently are young rosettes around 0.5-1" in diameter. A cross with a lot of potential, developing thick green leaves with heavily curled edges tinged in white on the undersides, and sporting glands on both sides of the leaves, potentially with red flushing in the leaves. Adult plants could be anywhere from 3-6" in diameter (an estimate, they haven't matured yet), and flowers are likely to be delicate and mauve-pink, possibly with darker purple edges. This is still a selection from the original seed-grown individuals, so each may be slightly different in appearance/color as they grow.

Available plants are between 0.5-1.5" in diameter, still growing.

This homemade hybrid so far closely resembles the reverse cross but may have the potential to grow larger due to gigantea being the seed parent (adult size estimated at 5-6 inches in diameter). Leaves are broad and ovular but have highly involute edges tinted reddish, as well as often sporting a red center. Flowers are likely to be of moderate size and a delicate violet laced with intricate veins.

Available plants are around 0.75-1.5" in diameter.

Only a handful left, still small but with a lot of potential in them. Adult plants of this cross reach an average of 4-5 inches in diameter, with roughly ovular leaves bearing curled edges and colors of bright green with red tints to rich flushing at the leaf bases and sometimes the edges. Flowers tend to open brilliantly pale purple with darker purple veins, halos of violet around the edges and center and a yellowish bulls-eye right in the center; they lighten with age, sometimes taking on a pinkish tone but usually remain shades of lavender.

This diminutive homemade hybrid looks much like a miniaturized D. tokaiensis, rarely exceeding more than an inch across with flat rosettes of paddle-shaped lamina bearing narrow petioles and broad, slightly tapered lamina, colored bright green with red tentacles and edges to almost solid scarlet. They bloom nearly constantly, sending up gland-covered stalks of hot pink sterile flowers. This is a great colony display plant, as even a single individual will over time divide and bud from the leaves or roots to form mats of traps.

Available plants are mature and around an inch across.

A highly variable and widespread species, this variant as the name suggests comes from the Carolinas, rosetted rather than stem-forming in nature and capable of growing to more than 4" in diameter (though 2-3" is common especially in colonies). Leaves spread out in pincushion fashion, with narrow, lengthy petioles and small, teardrop-shaped lamina, all colored in bright green with red tentacles (flushing red in the strongest light). It blooms profusely throughout summer, with curving stalks supporting several small, self-fertile white flowers. As a temperate variety it will go dormant in winter, and plants regularly divide and bud from old leaves. Available plants are around 2-2.5" in diameter, minimum blooming size (or may be smaller but with inflorescences attached). Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. This homemade version of D. x nagamotoi grows to around 1.5-2" in diameter maximum (though often maxes out at an almost dwarf size), with flat to slightly raised rosettes of elongate paddle-shaped leaves colored in bright greens often flushed with crimson or even nearly solid red. Medium-sized, wiry stalks are regularly produced bearing several small, bright pink sterile flowers. This is a great colonial plant, growing several slightly spaced out and over time they will fill in as they divide or bud from old leaves and roots.

Available plants are mature and around 1-1.5" in diameter.

This hybrid is a cross between two very easy plants, and is similarly a breeze to grow. Rosettes up to 2 inches in diameter form from flat paddle-shaped leaves with ovular lamina just a little wider than the original Lantau Island parent; coloration is rich green with crimson tentacles, sometimes the leaf tips flushing red as well. Flower stalks are tall and wiry, and bear numerous large, bright pink sterile blooms. This is an excellent colony display plant, as it will eventually bud from old leaves, divide, or sprout from old roots to form mats of plants.

Available plants are mature, 1.5-2" in diameter.

A Carlton Carnivores original cross and a hybrid you'd think would be more common...plants grow to around 2.5" in diameter (sometimes slightly larger) with broad flat rosettes of narrow, wedge-shaped leaves. Coloration is often bright green with crimson tentacles but under strong enough light plants can also flush completely crimson. Flower stalks are tall, wiry, and bear numerous sterile but large bright pink blooms. A great plant for singular display, but old leaves and sometimes roots may bud, or divisions form, producing colonies over time.

Available plants are semi-mature to mature, around 2" in diameter.

This is a vigorous and rapidly spreading form of the species that grows on average between 1.5-2" in diameter, flat rosettes of tapered leaves that are often bright green overlain with red flushes, sometimes to solid red under strong enough light. Flower stalks are short but bear several small, hot pink, self-fertile blooms. As these seeds spread easily and the plants may divide or bud from old roots over time, they often quickly form carpets of plants.

Available plants are mature, around 1-1.5" in diameter (but can get larger once planted individually).

This unusual hybrid bears a strong resemblance to D. x nagamotoi, but with a more upright and slender profile. Plants can grow to nearly 2" tall and 4" across, with semi-erect elongate paddle-shaped leaves. Under good light, they can turn nearly solid crimson. Flower stalks are wiry and bear several large, exceedingly pale pink sterile blooms. A great candidate for singular display, but will also over time spread via division and budding plantlets on old leaves. Available plants are around 2"+ in diameter, semi-mature. For sale are rooted cuttings of the hybrid tropical pitcher plant Nepenthes x Edinensis.  This plant is a Victorian hybrid, making it over 200 years old.  The plant from which these cuttings were taken is part of the Longwood Gardens collection.  These cuttings were struck in December 2020 and have well-established roots.  Nice winged pitchers on long tendrils. You will receive 1 cutting that will be shipped to you bare-root by Priority Mail.   Shipping for Nepenthes is $12 for Priority Mail delivery regardless of the quantity of plants ordered from my shop.
  • Sold By: Ferocious Foliage
You will be purchasing a rooted cutting of Nepenthes copelandii.  This is a very easy plant that is good for beginners.  The brighter the light the larger the pitchers, and they tend to retain pitchers for a long time.  The cuttings were struck in December.  Plants are rooted in a mist bed so the root systems aren't huge since the humidity stays high all the time, but the cuttings are very vigorous. Standard shipping regardless of the number of plants is $12 for USPS Priority Mail, usually mailed out on Monday or Tuesday.  Your plant will be send bare root.

You will be purchasing a rooted cutting of Nepenthes maxima x truncata.  This is a fairly easy and vigorous plant that is good for beginners.  This hybrid gets very large so I recommend a hanging basket or terrace flower pot.  The cuttings were struck in December.  As you can see from the photo, the plants are quite large - beats a seedling! Standard shipping regardless of the number of plants is $12 for USPS Priority Mail, usually  - mailed out on Monday or Tuesday.  Your plant will be send bare root.

It's tiny, it's weedy, it's cute; the only real trouble with this species is remembering to feed it regularly so it makes lots of seeds! This annual butterwort is native to western Europe and the Mediterranean region, and often doesn't even exceed an inch in diameter when full-grown with short ovular leaves that often sport impressive red veins. The self-pollinating flowers are tiny and tube-shaped, with white petals and a purple tube and spur. To germinate, just sow on wet soil and wait. Packets contain approx. 30+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

A small but fast-growing butterwort found through much of the southeastern US and the Caribbean, this version from Texas grows to often not much more than an inch in diameter, and produces flowers almost the same size that start out nearly white and age to lavender over time. No special treatment needed for the seeds, but the seedlings and plants do need regular feeding to grow and produce seeds (it's a short-lived annual and needs reseeding regularly). The Blue butterwort is a small, fairly easy-growing temperate butterwort from the southeastern US, with rosettes of folded leaves up to 6" across (though often much smaller) and incredibly variable flowers that come in shades of purple-veined white to solid indigo. This version originated from seed germinated by me and tends to produce chunky blooms that are bright white to light lavender and heavily veined in deep blue-purple. Only one packet left of this rare locality; the Primrose butterwort is a fairly easy to grow swamp-loving temperate from the same region as many American pitcher plants are found, and this form is a pure white-flowered version from the famed Blackwater River area in northern Florida. The seeds have a small chance of being outcrossed with a standard purple-flowered form, but are more likely to have been the result of a selfing and so should produce many white-flowered babies. Packet contains approx. 20-30 seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. This cultivar is a cross of D. sp. Lantau Island x capensis 'Albino'. Like the other Lantau x cape crosses it has the potential to reach nearly 4" in diameter with semi-erect, fountain-like rosettes of baseball bat-shaped leaves. Unlike the other versions of the cross though, this variety seems to prefer staying more squat and compact at around 2" across, and develops colors that range from red-tinted green to nearly solid scarlet with the faintest green tone in the center of the leaves. Flowers are borne on tall stalks and quite large, sterile, and bright pink. Available plants are mature at approximately 1.5-2" in diameter. Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. If you want easy to grow, this is one of the best fits. A cross between two already supremely easy species, this semi-fertile hybrid develops rosettes that can reach nearly 3" in diameter (though averages 1.5-2"), with flat tapering leaves sporting slightly wider lamina and, under good lighting, solid crimson colors. Flower stalks are of moderate length and can sport numerous small, bright pink blooms. Best grown with the expectations of being a colony plant as roots and old leaves will bud and plants will divide over time. Available plants are mature, around 1.5" in diameter. Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. An exciting homemade hybrid that really combines the best of both parents. This plant can reach up to 2 inches high/ nearly 4 inches in diameter (though may average around 2.5" across), producing semi-erect, very narrow leaves with spiny-looking hairs covering the petioles and slender paddle-shaped lamina. Color can often be green with red lamina or can flush crimson throughout in strong light. Flower stalks are very thin, wiry, and sport surprisingly large, very pale pink (almost white) blooms. As a sterile hybrid it will only spread via divisions or natural budding/division, and is great as a singular display plant in a pot.

Available plants are semi-mature to mature, between 1.5-2.5" in diameter.

One of several versions of this favored Carlton Carnivores hybrid (and the original attempt), these plants can get large, more than 4 inches in diameter (though average around 2.5-3") with rosettes of semi-erect spoon or club-shaped leaves that are often green in the lengthy petiole but nearly always crimson in the lamina or at least with scarlet tentacles, occasionally red throughout in strong light. The flower stalks can be huge, nearly 2 feet in length, and bear dozens of large, light pink sterile blooms. This is a fantastic singular display plant, though old leaves and roots occasionally bud plantlets so colonies form over time. Very tolerant of a wide range of conditions. Available plants are semi-mature to mature, 2-3" in diameter. A relative of the more familiar U. dichotoma, this bladderwort is an Australian endemic that produces sparse mats of thin leaves and stalks that bear small but beautiful multi-hued violet and yellow/white flowers. Germination of many Utricularia seeds is not always a simple affair, but may be good for a challenge determining seasonal, chemical, or other cues to trigger sprouting, and this species is likely to be similar. Packets contain approx. 40-60+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. A homemade cross between two large, flamboyant, and very red plants with a lot of S. oreophila influence and so likely to be quite hardy and easy to grow. The female parent produces vermillion pitchers with a large spout-mouth and ruffled lid, pollen parent has red tubes and a white and green lid with red veins running through. Offspring could be similarly red, or develop greater contrast thanks to the leucophylla influence in both parents as well. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds. This cultivar bucks the common species name of "pink sundew," with rosettes averaging 1-1.5" in diameter with semi-erect to flat, paddle-shaped leaves that even in the strongest light are evergreen, only the tentacles developing a rich pink to red color. Self-pollinating, small white flowers are produced regularly on narrow stalks, and both this seed production and proclivity to divide means this cultivar readily develops dense sticky colonies over time. Available plants are mature or nearly mature. Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. One of my favorite original cultivars, this cross of D. affinis "Uningi Pans, Zambia" x spatulata "white flower" develops spectacular spreading rosettes that can push nearly 5" in diameter on the ends of short to moderate length stems, composed of semi-erect elongate paddle-shaped leaves whose lamina are uniquely folded down their middle and the petioles have a slight covering of silver hairs. Plants may develop with bright green petioles and crimson lamina, or fully poppy-red blushed throughout depending on light, and once settled may produce long, wiry stalks bearing small sterile pink flowers. This is a spectacular stand-alone plant, but it will also occasionally produce plantlets from its roots to form colonies. Available plants are semi-mature, averaging between 2.5-4" in diameter. A giant of a plant, with an extremely vigorous growth habit and pitchers that even in my climate regularly exceed 2 feet in height. Fully mature pitchers often sport exaggerated spout-shaped lips, and color up in solid brick red in the pitchers, bright yellow with red veins in the lid (often flushing with red as they mature). Plants often send up their best crop of pitchers early in the year, but can also produce summer and fall flushes as well. Third and fourth pictures show this plant at full maturity (if lightly colored as it was shading its own self out), in a gallon pot for reference and showing the spout-lip big pitchers make.

Available divisions are large, fully mature, some with multiple growth points. Grown outside, these need no humidity.

Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. Many plants are grown in high humidity conditions and may require acclimation, unless otherwise noted. If you are expecting weather that may be detrimental to the plants if shipped, please message me upon making your order! Shipping cost includes heat pack or cold pack/insulation as needed for detrimental weather conditions.

A similar to but slightly smaller hybrid than my cultivar 'Childhood Wishes', this is a plant slightly more prone to forming stems up to a few inches tall and can develop palm tree-like rosettes up to 3" or so in diameter, with tapered oar-shaped leaves whose tips often fold in half. Coloration is bright green with crimson blushing to a rich solid scarlet. Flower stalks are slender and wiry, bearing numerous small, bright pink sterile blooms. A great plant for singular display, this cross also can tend to bud from old roots or the base of bent stems, thus forming loose colonies over time. Available plants are typically semi-mature, between 1.5-2.5" in diameter and 1-2" tall (above root zone). One of many unique Australian forms of this species, a tropical plant that develops flat rosettes up to 3" in diameter with very narrow, strap or wedge-shaped leaves with a distinct petiole and long lamina. Under good light, the entire plant readily flushes a bright to wine red hue. Flowers are produced near-constantly, small and white and self-pollinating. A very attractive singular display plant, its abundant seed production and occasional old leaf or root budding also lends to quickly developing colonies. Plants are small but mature (flowering size), between 1-1.5" across and will gain size once potted spaciously. These are a few different clones of what will hopefully be giant mitchellianas made by me.  The cross is leucophylla "CC's monster" x purpurea purpurea "Giant" Ocean City, NJ.  Pictured are a few of the actual plants for sale and are representative of the plant you will receive.  I cannot guarantee which specific clone you will get, but they're all big, red, and vigorous and there's little difference between them. All plants are shipped bare root via USPS Priority mail with pitchers intact when not dormant so your plant arrives safe, healthy, and ready to thrive and I typically ship on Mondays or Tuesdays.

This clone is a rapid divider and produces numerous slender pitchers with broad lids and a primarily green coloration, but dotted in the upper pitcher and lid with sparse white areoles and marked with deep red to nearly black pinstripe veins and an equally dark lip. Once it matures this will likely be an elegantly impressive plant. Available division is a small/medium multi-growth point plant, with pitchers up to a foot tall. Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. This clone is a rapid grower that sends up elegant, slender trumpet pitchers up to 2 feet or more in height (in conditions here; likely to get taller in more humid locations), and pure fluorescent green throughout. Lemon yellow flowers are produced in spring, which smell rather pungently of ammonia or, often compared to cat urine (delightful, no?). The available plant is a LARGE, multi-growth point flowering size division, 3rd photo, with pitchers up to 20" tall already. Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only.
