This is one of the classic beginner's species, and an impressive one still. Plants develop rosettes up to 3 inches in diameter, with semi-erect tapered wedge-shaped leaves that under good lighting readily flush bright red. Flower stalks are produced almost constantly, bearing small self-pollinating white blooms, and the plants will often bud off roots and old leaves, developing colonies. Packets contain 50+ seeds each. This species requires no special treatment to germinate, and will grow in nearly any condition carnivores can be put in but does best in warm, wet, and bright environments.
