This cross of Rubra Jones Alba x Psittacina Alba is a real winner. This plant shows signs of both parents; more erect leaves, and a lid that matches Rubra, from Psittacina the plant grows lower to the ground, and has curvature of the leaves near the mouth. Plant is currently house in a 6 inch pot, and has multiple growth points. Plants tallest pitcher stands at 6 inches. The plant in the picture is the exact plant for sale. Not a division, but the entire plant. I currently ship Plants out on Monday’s and Thursdays, Because I don’t like for plants to sit over the weekend. So please allow a few days before shipping. I ship all plants bare root wrapped in moist paper towel. Due to county regulations, it is illegal for me to ship plants potted. I leave the pitchers on (except during dormancy) and do my best to ship with as little damage as possible. However, I cannot guarantee that the leaves or flowers will arrive undamaged. They are delicate after all. CPR15

This is one of the classic beginner's species, and an impressive one still. Plants develop rosettes up to 3 inches in diameter, with semi-erect tapered wedge-shaped leaves that under good lighting readily flush bright red. Flower stalks are produced almost constantly, bearing small self-pollinating white blooms, and the plants will often bud off roots and old leaves, developing colonies. Packets contain 50+ seeds each. This species requires no special treatment to germinate, and will grow in nearly any condition carnivores can be put in but does best in warm, wet, and bright environments.

Cold hardy and will survive outdoors without overwinter protection. Size options: Small- Juvenile, may or may not have adult pitchers Medium-Adult pitchers, may or may not be of flowering size Large- Adult pitchers, of flowering size and may have 1 or more growth points.

This Venus flytrap has a story! These were wild collected back in the 60s-70s by Northrop Carnivorous Plants. Then grown in the “wild” in Mississippi on Dan Winters property for years where they naturalized and reproduced on their own. When Dan moved to Colorado he brought a couple hundred plants with him and would bring more over the years every time he went back to his property. Those plants were then planted outdoors in Colorado and grown with minimal protection during the winter. Dan was convinced after growing them outdoors for years the more cold hardy plants were the ones that survived and reproduced. These were all propagated vegetatively (not TC) from plants I got from Dan about 10 years ago and are mature flowering-size plants. They grow easily outdoors in temperate climates, or in greenhouses. The photos feature a clump of my propagation stock of these unique Venus flytraps, and you will receive one mature plant from this group with your purchase. Shipping options are outlined below, and as little as $5.00 for first class shipping, regardless of quantity of plants ordered from my shop (Jeremiah's Plants).

Once considered to be a possible new carnivorous plant group, Proboscidea and its relatives are now relegated to para-carnivorous at best, or more commonly "murderous plants." This species can get large, adult plants measuring several feet across with multiple branches, leaves held on thick petioles and roughly spade-shaped. At the ends of each branch spikes of large, fleshy, 5-lobed flowers form, typically pale pinkish mauve in color with darker spots and a yellow stripe leading into the throat. These flowers also have two-lobed stigmas that move when touched, the lobes folding together to capture pollen or avoid damage. All parts of the plant are covered in tiny, sticky glandular hairs that regularly capture small insects (defense against gnats and aphids) and will attract small assassin bugs that feed on the victims. Pollinated flowers develop unique pods that, when young, can actually be harvested and cooked as a vegetable, but when mature shed their fleshy outer coating and the narrow tips split to form a pair of wickedly sharp hooks used to snag animals and carry them about to disperse seeds (occasionally crippling the animals, and thereby providing the seeds with fertilizer). Seed packs will contain approximately 10+ seeds. These seeds appear to have a fridge-storage shelf life of only a few years, so sow quickly at the start of the growing season. Please note: Proboscidea louisianica cannot be shipped to Washington State. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.
