Carnivorous Plants for Sale

Byblis are uncommonly grown as is, hybrids even rarer especially as sometimes it's hard to get the cross to succeed. This particular hybrid however seems not only fairly easy to produce, but easy to grow as well thanks to the female parent. Exhibiting rapid growth, small and delicate flowers, and sometimes the self-pollinating traits of B. liniflora, it also sports serrated, darker purple petals, red flushes (sometimes, not always) in the stems and leaves, and a more slender, erect growth form like B. rorida. Packets contain approx. 15-20+ seeds each; seeds do require special treatment (GA3 solution, smoke treatment, or similar) to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

This species tends to develop short, slender upright stems up to a foot tall, with leaves often no more than 2" in length and often flushed throughout in rich red color. The stem is topped often by a cluster of bright purple flowers with pale backs and heavily serrated petal edges. Like most Byblis, they require cross-pollination to produce seeds and do best with lots of room for the roots to spread. Packets contain approx. 10 seeds. Seeds do require special treatment (GA3 solution, smoke treatment, or similar) to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). This complex hybrid from Jerry Addington is a stunner. Plant sports wide open lids, like a Catesbaei, petit erect tubes, and a burgundy coloration with slight veining inside of the lids. Plant is currentlyly in a 4 inch pot and has 1 growth point. The plant in the picture is the exact plant for sale. Not a division, but the entire plant. I currently ship Plants out on Mondays and Thursdays, Because I don’t like for plants to sit over the weekend. So please allow a few days before shipping. I ship all plants bare root wrapped in moist paper towel. Due to county regulations, it is illegal for me to ship plants potted. I leave the pitchers on (except during dormancy) and do my best to ship with as little damage as possible. However, I cannot guarantee that the leaves or flowers will arrive undamaged. They are delicate after all. CPR154

Darlingtonia Californica is native to the Oregon Coastline and Southern interior and Northern California coast line.  These plants prefer cool nights.  With days occasionally up in the 90's with no greater than 70F root temperature, they still get 50F night temperatures.  Most of these plants have some sort of cool moving water over their rhizomes.  We have the best results planting these in pure sphagnum moss.  You can also use peat moss and perlite. Be sure not to keep them sitting in stagnant water, they deteriorate when this happens. This size of plant grows best in a 3-4 inch size pot, 2-3 years away from flowering size.
