There are seemingly two forms of plants that are in trade under the unofficial title "Gentle," one an obvious "fusca" x maxima cross with dark pitchers, and then the form that I have that looks like "fusca" x mixta. Lower pitchers are very slender and cylindrical, can reach over 8 inches long, with bright cream-pink flushed and red mottled pitchers and a narrow, teardrop-shaped mouth with a cylindrical peristome striped in light and dark red. Upper pitchers are much paler an funnel-shaped, light green with sparse spots. This clone is also a known male.

One of three clones from this locality that I grow, this form does not develop pitchers as red as either of its siblings, but has a distinctively different growth shape, with more cylindrical overall proportions. Both lower and upper pitchers are mainly green with red highlights and sometimes speckling, and tend to average between 2-3 inches tall.

This is a famous "dark" maxima clone from Borneo Exotics that was originally labeled as N. eymae. Lower pitchers can grow to more than a foot tall, cylindrical with heavy tan/brown and deep red to blackish mottling, the peristome aging from mildly striped cherry to almost black as well. Upper pitchers, though I haven't seen them yet, are narrow in the base and broadly funnel-shaped above, with a narrower striped peristome and crinkled lid held above the mouth. And, this should be a female.
