The leaves produce varying blushes and dark red venation. It’s also a great hybridizer that produces incredible offspring. Honestly, that this plant even exists and is in cultivation is a wonder to me. Pinguicula laueana "Red" was collected by the famous botanist Alfred Lau in 1973 and named after him in 1989. It’s an easy grower that produces white flowers with a larger lower central lobe that also features a greenish-yellow spot near the throat. The typical gracilis’s flower stalk can reach over 2 inches tall, but this “Stalkless” variety rarely produces any visible stem, so the flowers open between the leaves of the plant itself! We recommend reading the article on the ICPS website for the story. The plant you will receive will be between 1”-1.5” in diameter. ‘Faulisi’ has by far one of the biggest pinguicula flowers, with a beautiful ruffle to its oversized, hot pink lobes and a contrasting white throat. It is also known to be a great breeder and gives a fair bit of pollen. The plant itself has a stunning rosette of flat, tongue-like leaves with a purple margin to its otherwise bright green foliage, that colors more intensely under high light. This plant typically likes a more mossy mixture in its soil, but will rot if waterlogged for long. We would consider this to be an advanced level plant.

The name “Rue” is a blend of “Red” and “Blue” from each parent's name. Each plant from this series is a seed-grown, genetically unique, pure Pinguicula agnata from two agnata varieties on the opposite end of the spectrum from each other: agnata “Red Leaf” has increased levels of anthocyanin (pigmentation) and will, under intense light, produce blood-red leaves, while agnata “True Blue” has little-to-no anthocyanin so the leaves stay green. “Red Leaf’s" flowers are rather white, usually only featuring lavender coloration on the edges of the petals, while “True Blue’s" flowers are vibrantly colored in a blue-ish lavender. Many “Rues” are already showing the best features of both parents: vibrant leaves and colorful flowers. The plant you will receive will be between 1"-1.5" in diameter. However, it is still a beautiful plant that propagates relatively easily by leaf pullings. The plant you will receive will be between 1.5”-2” in diameter. The leaves of the plant, when mature, are long and slender with a rounded end; giving the plant an almost chrysanthemum appearance with its shape. It colors up a soft, blush pink with the center staying more green even under high light. We would consider this to be a beginner-intermediate level plant

Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsTo the best of our knowledge, this particular butterwort was collected somewhat recently by Fernando Rivadavia from around the Mexican town of Molango in the state of Hidalgo, making it quite rare in collections. It produces beautiful purple flowers with even deeper purple markings where the petals meet, but the real reason to grow this butterwort is for its leaves - they’re lanceolate-shaped with distinct, cupped margins that fade as the leaves become equally distinct petioles, the latter of which is rare amongst butterworts. The distinct petioles remind us of Pinguicula acuminata but “Molango’s" actual leaves aren’t as broad. “Molango’s" leaves also flush a gorgeous mottled pink with darker, purple venation but in contrast, the center or rib of the leaf remains green. It’s important to note that while in active growth, Pinguicula “Molango” likes being potted in a mossy mix that’s kept quite wet at all times. “Molango” will go extremely dormant at which time it must be kept much drier. The plant you will receive will be between 1”-1.5” in diameter. We would consider this an advanced level plant.
