P. esseriana produces non-carnivorous "succulent like" leaves during the winter. In nature, P. eeseriana grows in semi-arid steppes and has a broad range, extending through several states of Mexico.

The plant you will receive will be between 1”-1.5” in diameter. The flower is large is large with flatter petals and a bright pink color, reminding us of a clown's trick flower and thus giving inspiration for the name. Unlike the reverse cross, the leaves have more of a ‘Faulisi’ presentation being wider with a noticeable indent line down the center. The color is very similar to the reverse, starting out a bright yellow-green that comes from pinguicula mocetzumae, and colors up a nice pink under high light while keeping its “purple pits” indicative of ‘Faulisi’ regardless. We would consider this to be an intermediate-advanced level plant.

It has one of the larger flowers that are produced by butterworts, second only to perhaps ‘Faulisi.’ They are a beautiful shade of purple and the petals and overall flower are surprisingly flat-surfaced. The plant itself generally stays a lime green, exhibiting little-to-no pigmentation. These plants (including “Sumidero 1,” which we hope to have available soon) were collected in a national park, Sumidero Canyon, in the Mexican state of Chiapas, possibly by Andreas Wistubas. The cross for Pinguicula “Pastel” is agnata “Red Leaf” x mesophytica #2. Even under intense light, Pastel’s mostly green leaves will barely produce any sort of coloration. The flowers have friendly, round lobes that are slightly lavender-colored and will fade to mostly white as the flower ages. This is a pastel even Morticia Addams could love! The plant you will receive will be between 1"-1.5" in diameter. We would consider this a beginner-intermediate level plant.
- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsA wonderful hybrid originally from California Carnivores, “John Rizzi” is a butterwort collection staple that isn’t in circulation much these days. It’s an easy grower that gets quite large, producing gorgeous, bronzy, undulating leaves with sparse, dark venation that are some of the most effective at catching fungus gnats and other small pests that we’ve seen. “John Rizzi” doesn’t flower often for us but the large, round-petaled, pink flowers are worth the wait. The parentage is unknown but this plant was famously crossed by a hummingbird at California Carnivores. Named by Peter D’Amato after, I believe, an employee who was working at California Carnivores at the time. The plant you will receive will be 1"-1.5" in diameter. We would consider this a beginner level plant.

- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsPinguicula ‘Titan’ is an easy growing, vigorous, and aptly-named butterwort cultivar produced by Cal State Fullerton University’s greenhouse manager Leo Song. The parentage is believed to be Pinguicula agnata x macrophylla. It produces enormous, bronzy leaves and large, round flowers on long scapes. The flowers reportedly have a fragrance but we don’t think we’ve smelled them yet. ‘Titan’ will form a tight, subterranean hibernaculum while dormant. The plant you will receive will be between 1"-1.5" in dimeter. The plants we’re offering are currently dormant, medium-sized plants that should get quite large within the next growing season. While they’re dormant they’re perfect to ship and they’ll be more accepting of new growing conditions if they’re able to wake up in them. We would consider this a beginner-intermediate level plant.
