- Sold By: Carnivore CultureSarracenia psittacina, also known as the Parrot Pitcher Plant is a very unique species of Sarracenia. The pitchers extend outward and the mouth and lid have a "hood"-like appearance. In its' natural habitat the plants are seasonally submerged under water and it may be the only Sarracenia species to capture aquatic prey. In addition, the examples offered are absolutely stunning examples of Sarracenia psittacina, which were grown from seed from plants native to the Okefenokee Swamp. Some are deep purple-red with lots of white fenestrations (light windows) on their large, globose hoods, while others are a brilliant yellowish green with deep scarlet hoods and somewhat less fenestrations, and of course every imaginable form in between. Your plant will be shipped bare root (unpotted), wrapped in moss. You can purchase a pot and soil to be shipped with your plant here.

- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsThis species comes from Hidalgo, municipality of El Chico, Las Ventanas, at an altitude of 3000m, and can be found under oaks and juniper with silty soil in the wild. In winter, pinguicula crassifolia has a small, tight rosette while in the summer it will produce more spoon-shaped carnivorous leaves. The plant you will receive will be between 1.5”-2” in diameter. The flower is a deep, hot pink color with a very fuzzy stalk that sometimes produces no spur - we have chalked this up to a mutation in the plant we have. It has no negative effects on the health of the plant. The leaves will be a rich lime green in winter, becoming lighter in summer and may blush around the margins under high light. We would consider this to be an intermediate level plant.
- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsThis particular variety of pinguicula moranensis is found 25km outside of the town of San Cristobal de Las Casas in Oaxaca, Mexico. This plant produces almost pure white flowers, save for its yellow throat, and large neon yellow-green leaves that don’t color up much even under high light. The plant you will receive will be between 1”-1.5” in diameter. During dormancy, pinguicula moranensis var. alba will have a tight, rich green rosette with small, slightly pointed leaves. When in active growth, the plant can get quite large with bigger, flatter carnivorous leaves. We would consider this to be a beginner-intermediate level plant.
- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsKnown from just one location in Oaxaca, Mexico, Pinguicula gigantea or the Giant Butterwort is the largest butterwort yet discovered. In ideal conditions, they can grow to be as wide as a dinner plate! Pinguicula gigantea is also fairly unique in that it produces carnivorous mucilage on both the surface and underside of its leaves and like to be kept wetter. It also doesn’t go dormant, so it produces sticky, carnivorous leaves all year. The flowers are a beautiful purplish that starts to fade towards white as the flowers age. The plant you will receive will be between 1"-1.5" in diameter. Gigantea is also a fantastic hybridizer, producing pollen and seed if manually pollinated. In our experience, this plant is usually at its largest in the fall or winter, flowers in the winter, and then divides in the spring.
- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsAn in-house Brambles Botanicals hybrid, Pinguicula “Starburst” is agnata “Red Leaf” x rectifolia (CROSS # 21065). This series produces a lot of variability in both flowers and leaves. We named this series “Starburst” because all of the flowers appear to have an explosive appearance, sometimes with imperfections like Tie-dye patterns or mottling that reminded us of astronomical events unfolding— but also the candy, particularly because this series’ glistening leaves often have a pinkish hue that makes the plants look like candy. The mother plant, agnata “Red Leaf,” is known for producing blood-red leaves under high light, due to increased anthocyanin (pigmentation). The father plant, rectifolia, has dramatic, purple flowers with slight ruffles which makes for an endlessly versatile combination when mixed with agnata “Red Leaf’s rounder, whiter flower. Each plant is genetically unique, seed-grown, and one-of-a-kind! The plant you will receive will be between 1"-1.5" in diameter. We would consider this a beginner level plant.
- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsAnother variety of the red-flowered Pingicula laueana, the “CalCarn Red” or “California Carnivores Red” has rounder, slightly ruffled flowers compared to the flatter, more rectangular petals of the typical form of laueana. We would also say the flowers may be ever so slightly less red. It is believed that Alfred Lau gave California Carnivores this variety directly. The plant you will receive will be between 1"-1.5" in diameter. We would consider this a beginner level plant.
- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsThis beautiful, unknown hybrid almost certainly contains pinguicula laueana and gigantea genetics. Named for the visual engineer and camera operator responsible for many of the absolutely incredible time lapse shots of plants and fungi in modern nature documentaries, including BBC’s “The Green Planet” with David Attenborough. The plant you will receive will be between 1”-1.5” in diameter. Pinguicula “Chris R. Field” has large, tongue-like leaves that stay a pale green and color up with a pinkish tinge under high light. The flower itself is a bright pink with subtle venation, and a pale yellow throat with noticeable white hairs; the lobes are oblong with rounded ends, similar to the shape on that of pinguicula laueana. We would consider this to be a beginner-intermediate level plant.
- Sale! Sold By: Brambles BotanicalsSelf'd and seed-grown flower cross #22011 should present and grow much like its parent plant, with slight variations possible. Good drainage is needed. The flower is expected to turn out bright pink with veining and a light yellow or white colored throat. The plant you will receive will be between 1"-1.5" in diameter. We would consider this a beginner-intermediate level plant.
