A similar to but slightly smaller hybrid than my cultivar 'Childhood Wishes', this is a plant slightly more prone to forming stems up to a few inches tall and can develop palm tree-like rosettes up to 3" or so in diameter, with tapered oar-shaped leaves whose tips often fold in half. Coloration is bright green with crimson blushing to a rich solid scarlet. Flower stalks are slender and wiry, bearing numerous small, bright pink sterile blooms. A great plant for singular display, this cross also can tend to bud from old roots or the base of bent stems, thus forming loose colonies over time. Available plants are typically semi-mature, between 1.5-2.5" in diameter and 1-2" tall (above root zone). Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. Many plants are grown in high humidity conditions and may require acclimation, unless otherwise noted. If you are expecting weather that may be detrimental to the plants if shipped, please message me upon making your order! Shipping cost includes heat pack or cold pack/insulation as needed for detrimental weather conditions. If there are issues with the plants upon arrival, please contact me within 48 hours of receipt.

The shrinking effect of brevifolia is quite evident in this maternal-side cross that rarely exceeds 1.5 inches in diameter, bearing short, spoon-shaped leaves in a tight rosette that often flush solid wine red in good light. The flower stalks are short and wiry and covered in tiny glands, bearing large, very pale pink sterile blooms. Old leaves and roots often bud, making this a great colony plant. Available plants are mature, between 1-1.5" in diameter on average. Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. As in other D. brevifolia hybrids this cross has the look of a slightly miniaturized version of the other parent with very glandular flower stalks; rosettes reach no more than 1.5-2" in diameter with flat, paddle- or narrow wedge-shaped leaves that readily color in deep reds and underlying olive green in good light. The gland-covered stalks bear several moderately large, very pale pink sterile flowers with rounded petals. Old leaves readily bud, meaning it rapidly develops colonies. Available plants are mature, between 1-2" in diameter. Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. Originally given the botanical name Drosera x beleziana but renamed Drosera x eloisiana, this cultivar is a naturally occurring hybrid temperate sundew (D. intermedia x D. rotundifolia) originating from Ocean County, NJ that is more vigorous and larger than either parent species. Its leaf shape is intermediate between its parents, but tends to resemble the spoonleaf sundew more. Though infertile, it was found overgrowing its parent species in its natural habitat because of its vigor! You will receive 1 young adult sized plant, bareroot.

Drosera filiformis "Florida red" is an easy to grow, vigorous threadleaf sundew that turns solid red in full sun AND produces a white flower instead of the typical pink. This variety is one of my favorites. Despite originating from a subtropical region, this variety does produce a winter hibernacula. You will receive 1 young adult plant, bareroot.

Drosera adelae, or Lanceleaf Sundew, is one of the only rainforest sundews, part of the "Three sisters of Queensland" this Australian native is truly a windowsill plant! This is the giant variety, which grows larger than typical ones, though still smaller than a mature King Sundew. Drosera adelae is sometimes called "The poor man's Regia" due to its passing resemblance to the unrelated and more difficult to grow (as well as expensive) species, The King Sundew. Unlike the majority of sundews, this one requires low light and only thrives in very high humidity. A neat trick is to use a cut 2 liter clear plastic soda bottle as an improvised humidity dome! You will receive 1 small sized plant, bareroot.

Drosera Spatulata 'Fraser Island' is a small, pretty tropical rosetted sundew that can be grown like Cape Sundews. Visually, they most resemble Roundleaf sundews with more tentacles and dew travelling down a slightly wider petiole. They are happy on sunny windowsills and are very easy to care for. This variety is from Fraser Island, Australia and can attain solid red coloration under bright lights. You will receive 1 adult sized plant, bareroot.

Drosera filiformis "NJ Pine Barrens" is an easy to grow threadleaf sundew with long, slender green leaves and red tentacles whose genetics hail from the Pine Barrens of New Jersey (produced from either seed or division/clone). The leaves average 7-9 inches at maturity. Threadleaf sundews are easily one of the most effective hunters in my gardens, becoming decorated with insects collected over the summer like a morbid Christmas tree! This is a cold hardy variety that produces a winter hibernacula and will survive hard freezes. You will receive 1 adult sized plant, bareroot. TEMPERATE PLANTS ARE DORMANT FROM FALL INTO SPRING.
  • Sold By: JerseyDevilCarnivorousPlants
The Roundleaf Sundew, Drosera rotundifolia "NJ Pine Barrens" is a relatively small but very easy to care for sundew with genetics hailing from the Pine Barrens of NJ (produced by seed or clone). This species grows in a rosetted form with long petioles and a round shaped sticky trap at the end. These traps will curl over their prey items like grasping something in your palm. In my experience, whereas most sundews are perfectly happy being blasted with sunlight, these roundleaf sundews prefer part shade or less intense sun, perfect for a windowsill. Drosera rotundifolia was one of Charles Darwin's favorite species, discussed in his second most famous work "Insectivorous Plants"!!! This is a temperate variety and requires a winter dormancy. You will receive 1 adult plant, bareroot.
