The largest species of Sarracenia. Pitchers are all yellow and can grow over 3 feet tall. It sends up the largest ones in Spring, then long leaves that look like undeveloped pitchers during winter. The flowers are also huge and are known to smell like cat-pee. There are many different varieties of S. Flava, but these will be the all yellow form with possibly a slight bit of red on the back of the throat or a little bit of red veining on the top of the lid.
Fully mature Flava currently growing in a 4 inch pot
Note: Most flava pitchers are really old and some start falling over by Late July/August. Plants sold after this time may not have as many pitchers as plants sold in spring. It’s just part of their natural Cycle. I usually trim all pitchers off in Fall.
