A Sarracenia purpurea ssp. purpurea (Northern Purple Pitcher Plant) that grows huge, clumping traps. Colors change over the season from richly colored veined traps in the spring and summer, with dark maroon traps in the fall. The tag has long since been lost unfortunately, and I simply call this my “Giant clone”. Leaves persist for multiple years and plant divides readily. This is the northern variety of pitcher plant and will survive outdoors with no winter protection!!! (I live in climate zone 7A)
