An easy to grow cross and one that can at times get quite large, this hybrid develops semi-erect rosettes of leaves up to 3" across (average closer to 2") with a slender tapered shape and slightly broader tip of the leaf. Coloration in good light can be solid red with olive undertones. Flower stalks are moderately tall and sport several large, very pale pink sterile blooms. While attractive as an individual, each plant will also eventually divide or bud from old leaves and roots to form packed colonies.

Available plants are semi-mature to mature, approx. 1.5" in diameter on average.

The New Zealand highlands host several unusual and diminutive forms of this classic "spoonleaf sundew," sometimes with multiple distinct variants in any one site. This form from the far northern tip of North Island develops rosettes that rarely exceed 1.5" in diameter, with tapering wedge to semi-paddle shaped leaves painted in bright yellow-green and scarlet to solid poppy red. Tall (for the plant's size) wiry stalks bear several small, self-pollinating bright pink flowers. Note: the location is what this form was received as, but it is quite different from the "common form" of the same locale that more resembles other NZ varieties. Available plants are typically 0.75-1" in diameter, semi-mature to mature. This is an attractive and easy-growing hybrid between the occasionally touchy south-Chinese oblanceolata and what has been distributed as a possible ultramafica  hybrid, though is likely just a very attractive spatulata form. This cross grows to almost 4" in diameter maximum, developing semi-erect rising rosettes of slender, paddle-shaped leaves that in good lighting typically turn solid crimson. Flower stalks are moderately tall and sport a number of sterile, fairly large blooms so pale pink they often appear white. Great as an individual plant, they will often divide or bud from old leaves and roots to form colonies over time.

Available plants will typically be between 1.5-2.5" in diamter, semi-mature.

This triple-locality cross combines traits of Wentworth Falls and Woronorra river populations with the famed var. gympiensis spoonleaf sundew variety, producing flat, rosetted plants typically no more than 1.5" in diameter that sport narrowly wedge-shaped leaves typically colored solid red in good light. Thanks to that gympiensis parentage, flower stalks are rarely more than a couple of inches tall, occasionally hairy, and sport relatively huge flowers that, for most, are a brilliant pink hue. However, white forms occasionally show up as well, especially once new seeds are sown. This is a great form to build a colony display with, and readily self-seeds. Available plants are approx. 1" diameter, semi-mature to mature. This strange little hybrid appears to max out at around 1.5 inches in diameter, sometimes a bit more, with flat rosettes of slightly hairy leaves with lengthy petioles tipped in a short, triangular-shaped trap; I imagine they can at times also sport the semi-upright form of nidiformis, but I have not yet seen them do so. Color is primarily green but will flush a light red around the traps. Flowers are unknown, but likely fairly delicate and pale pink.

Available plants are limited, approx. 1-1.5" in diameter.

One of several iterations of this cross, this hybrid develops spreading 2-4" semi-erect rosettes of oar-shaped leaves, thick petioles supporting curving oblong lamina that fold outward, and in good light will regularly turn a bright yellowish green in the interior and flushed with red, sometimes almost solid red. Flower stalks can be quite large, and sport several sterile, moderately large pink flowers. This is a great plant for solitary display, though will often bud from the roots or old leaves to form colonies.

This is the largest form of this hybrid that I have retained; when planted separately individual specimens can reach over 3 inches across (though often average between 1.5-2" especially in colony growth), with flat to semi-erect rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves that readily flush solid scarlet in strong lighting. Flower stalks typically reach around 12 inches tall maximum, and can sport a very large number of sometimes mildly self-fertile, bright pink blooms. Very suitable for beginner growers, and will often quickly divide or bud from old leaves or roots to form colonies.

One of several iterations of this hybrid that I have made, and one of only a handful that I have deigned to keep around, this cross is a perfect beginner's plant growing to around 2" across maximum with rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves that readily flush almost solid red in good lighting. Flower stalks are up to 10" tall, a sport a number of small but brilliantly pink, sometimes semi-fertile blooms. This backcross hybrid strongly resembles some of the more uncommon (in cultivation at least) forms of D. natalensis with longer, slender petioles than is typically known; plants average around 2" in diameter but can reach up to 3" across in some cases, with flat to slightly upright rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves that in good lighting can turn solid red. Flower stalks can be nearly 2 feet in length at times, bearing numerous small, light pink self-pollinating flowers. Outcrossing can often result in notably more vigorous plants, and this is one good example. A standard line crossed with the recessive 'Albino' cultivar produces plants that look standard, but with very good growth easily reaching 6" or more in diameter and the potential, when allowed to bloom and set seeds, to produce both more typical plants as well as the white-flowered cultivar.

A known male clone, and a great plant for both beginners and those that just want something fast-growing with fat pitchers. Traps average 5-6 inches tall and are nearly cylindrical, with a variable pale red pattern over light creamy or green background, and the peristome is thick and mildly scalloped with a creamy to peach-red color, sometimes appearing striped as it frequently mutates with missing ribs that lack color. Upper pitchers are similar but even paler and funnel-shaped. Unlike some of the other clones this isn't a particularly small vine, and will happily grow several feet in length with multiple basals popping up frequently.

Available plants are rooted cuttings approx. 5-6" in diameter.

Grown from a batch of seeds from the ICPS seedbank years ago, I nicknamed this one "Fat Lips" for a while because the immature lower pitchers seem to have a tendency to produce particularly chunky peristomes; this holds over into uppers in the form of a notably rounded cherry red peristome on shapely hourglass-profile pitchers that are often liberally spotted or speckled red on a cream or light red background. A classic beginner's species, though tends to do better in slightly cooler conditions. Available plants are newly rooted cuttings with growth approx. 4-7" in diameter. One of the faster growing clones of an odd cross, this plant looks a lot like a pure rafflesiana in many ways but tends to make slightly taller, hipped pitchers with a broader peristome and thicker ribs, and big frilly wings. Color is a heavily mottled blend of cream and deep reds, the peristome striped in similar shades, and upper pitchers are similarly colored but funnel shaped and only retain funky stunted remnants of the wings.

A homemade complex hybrid that sports a number of traits that make it great for beginners and people looking for fairly compact plants. Despite it only being a small portion of the parentage, influence of N. campanulata is strong in this cross, thus far with the rosettes staying small with fat, almost rounded leaves and pitchers that float just off the ends of the leaves, relatively small and pale green, hourglass-shaped, with a red-flushed interior. Other than having a thicker peristome and broad lid, they rather resemble campanulata pretty well thus far. and hopefully wil lstay that way with age, though any number of possibilities may come from the rest of the parent species.

As the name suggests, while the leaflets look fairly similar, the patterning and colors of this plant can vary immensely, with the thick petioles sporting anything from solid shades of green to blotches, to mottling, or even a mix of them all. Individual clones tend to retain particular appearances, but can vary some between seasons even. Though none of mine have yet matured enough to bloom, they will eventually produce spectacular flower stalks up to 4 feet tall with lengthy white or pinkish spadixes surrounded by similarly variable, slender spathes, and they are reported to smell something like ripe durians.

Two clones are available, Clones D and E, tubers between 1-2" in diameter. If multiples are purchased, a mix of clones will be sent where possible, and other clones may become available as they go dormant.

One of the quintessential beginner carnivorous plants, and one of the better ones to try if it's your first time with seeds. This species can grow to over a foot across (though usually 4-6 inches) with semi-erect, strap shaped leaves colored bright yellow-green with red tentacles. The leaves will actively move when stimulated by prey, wrapping around whatever is fed to or caught by them. Typically prolific in blooming, when happy they will send up hairy, foot long stalks with numerous very large, self-pollinating pink flowers. Packets contain 30-50+ seeds each. This species requires no special treatment for germination, and grows in a variety of conditions but will do best in sandy soils in cool, strong light environments. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail. US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

This is the true cultivar, an elegant slender-leaved plant that can grow to more than 6" in diameter with a splayed rosette of arching semi-erect almost succulent leaves shaped almost like fingers. Under good light it may range anywhere from green tinted at the tips with pink to a rich pinkish purple through most of the leaf. Flowers are large, with broad rounded petals and a rich pink-purple coloration that changes tones as it ages.

Available plants are semi-mature, between 2-3 inches in diameter. Due to the plant's nature it can be fragile, and leaves may pop off readily in transit and when repotting (can be used to propagate however).

The third clone of this Carlton Carnivores original cross is similarly compact like its siblings, maxing out at around 2-2.5" in diameter, with the tight overlapping rosette of ovular leaves bearing folded edges making for sharp-tipped points like Clone A, though somewhat more triangular. Coloration like the others is typically bright green, with hints of pink though may blush deeper depending on soil and lighting. Flowers have the broadest petals of the three clones, almost rounded when first opening and distinctly ovular when fully open. Color ages from a rich lavender-violet to lavender pink, slightly darker bicolor blushing right at the very petal tips discernible and occasionally mottling of the petals visible, and upper petals are darker than the lowers and the grape-colored "halo" around the throat narrow and concentrated primarily at the bases of the upper petals. Some distinct striping of the deeper purple is also visible by the edges of the yellow palate.

Currently available plants are young rosettes between 0.5-1" diameter (in summer phase; winter rosettes may be half this).

This South American species is rather unique in simultaneously developing two distinctly different types of leaves, one set an elongate ovular ground-hugging type that will blanket the soil, and the other (often produced along the edges of the pot here, interestingly), a tall, grass-like blade up to 6" or more tall. Exposure to strong seasonal changes supposedly should trigger development of stalks that sport several moderately sized, lemon-yellow flowers. Plants are sold as approx. 0.5-1" plugs Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. Many plants are grown in high humidity conditions and may require acclimation, unless otherwise noted. If you are expecting weather that may be detrimental to the plants if shipped, please message me upon making your order! This is a highly cold-tolerant bulb, capable of surviving deep freezes and should be unbothered by most inclement weather. If there are issues with the plants upon arrival, please contact me within 48 hours of receipt.

Famously referred to as the "Angry Bunny bladderwort" due to the uncanny resemblance of the flowers to frowning lagomorph faces, this species is an easy-growing, easy-blooming plant that covers the soil in roughly wedge-shaped leaves and throws up numerous stalks covered in white and purple-patterned blooms that sport what look distinctly like purple-centered ear lobes and a skirt sporting a scowling face. While this form is not as rapid-growing as the blue form, it is far more generous in flowering. Plants are sold as approx. 0.5-1" plugs Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. This Australian classic is easy to grow and easy to bloom. Living typically as a terrestrial to affixed aquatic plant (does best just barely flooded), it develops mats of short, teardrop shaped leaves across the soil, and one established will send up thick stalks bearing one to several bright purple slipper-shaped blooms, often in pairs; stronger light equals darker purple. The flowers are also adorned with a bright yellow spot on the upper palate that offsets the violet. This is also a species that produces bladder traps large enough to readily see and often right at the soil surface. Plants are sold as 0.5-1" plugs. Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. Formerly known under the name Lilium tigrinum, the Tiger Lily is an eastern Asian plant that develops one to several deep purple stems between 1-5 feet tall, bearing slender leaves averaging 6-10 inches long all along the length of the stem. At the top, one to several nodding flowers are produced, up to 8 inches or more across with backward-curling tepals colored in brilliant shades of peach to orange with darker brown or black spotting. After blooming, seedpods may form, and/or the plants are capable of developing bulblets within the axils of their leaves, which can be detached to grow new plants.

Currently available are young offset bulbs averaging 0.5-0.75" in diameter, two for quoted price.

The much sought-after giant of the butterwort genus, this species has thick, almost succulent ovular leaves that sport glands on both sides, and grow out in semi-erect to broad spreading rosettes that average between 6-10 inches in diameter, but have been known to grow to nearly 2 feet across! In winter, the rosettes shrink a bit, but develop reddish streaking in this clone and send up one to several individual stalks that bear each a single delicately lavender-white flower edged in darker purple and covered in hairs. This species occasionally reproduces via a false-stolon, plantlets growing in an etiolated, elongate manner to reach out past the parent rosette before establishing.

Available plants are typically between 2-3" in diameter, may be smaller in winter.

While the reverse cross is quite common, this iteration seems to be rather rare. This set of seed-grown plants is expected to reach an average size of around 4 inches in diameter, with roughly ovular leaves bearing rolled edges and readily blushing red in good light, darker along the margins and center. Flowers are hard to predict, but likely to turn out with somewhat fringed petals and bright fuchsia to purple with darker veins.

Available plants are seed-grown, and may range from 0.5-1.5" in diameter currently.

A promising complex cross with two homemade generations in it, these are expected to be spectacular. The seed parent is a select seed-grown clone of a cross I made that sports midly veined, brilliantly purple blooms, the pollen parent California Carnivores' famous red laueana  clone. These plants are expected to reach around 5 inches in diameter and will readily flush red in good light, and sport flowers that are brilliant purple-pink with possible mild veins.

Available plants are seed-grown and may range from 0.5-1.5" in diameter currently.

My back yard has become an experimental breeding ground for brilliantly colored giant sunflowers, of which these seeds may produce a variety of appearances from. Influence has been had from Mammoth Russian, Evening Sunset, and a handful of other cultivars, producing plants that range anywhere from 5-12 feet tall and produce anything from several 8 inch blooms on branching stems to a singular bloom up to 15 inches across. Colors too can vary from yellow flushed with oranges and rust at the petal bases to entirely deep rusty red or maroon. Great for making garden borders or a sunflower forest to wander through, and some may even produce seeds big enough to roast and eat. Packets contain approximately 20+ seeds and require no special treatment to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

One of several US native species of blanketflower (though the exact species is unknown), this brilliant perennial produces fuzzy clusters of leaves from which tall stalks shoot up, topped by brilliant carmine blooms whose petals are edged in yellow. The flowers are followed by a puffball looking seedhead that falls apart into dozens of seeds. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds, which may benefit from but don't necessarily need a cold stratification. A west-coast native aster also called common madia, this annual wildflower looks a lot better than its name suggests (which actually comes from the oily, fragrant leaves that smell like an herbal tar). Plants are scrambling semi-shrubs that can grow up to almost 4 feet tall, each stem branching profusely and tipped by 2 inch wide, bright yellow daisy-like flowers. The seeds can be eaten, baked like sunflower seeds or ground into flour. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds, and require no special treatment to germinate. Native to much of the western US, this is a cold-hardy biennial semi-shrub that lives its first year of life as a spreading rosette of heavily lobed, velcro-texture leaves. In its second year it grows anywhere from 2-5 feet tall, branching heavily and producing at the end of each branch one to three night- to morning-blooming flowers that can be nearly 6 inches across and are brilliantly lemon yellow, with a spray of filiform stigmas sticking out of the middle. These flowers are followed by odd cylindrical pods with the same velcro-like texture as the leaves, and each contain numerous flat blackish seeds. Sowing a handful of seeds two different years can ensure establishment of blooming generations every year. Packets contain approx. 30+ seeds, and require a 2-3 month cold stratification to germinate.

PLEASE CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE PURCHASING. A fast-growing annual plant native to much of the US west coast and southwest, Coyote Tobacco  is a relatively slender-leaved plant that grows up to 3 feet or more in height and is covered in small, sticky glands. The small, tubular flowers are produced in profusion at the tips of the stems, ending in a five-petaled star and primarily blooming at night (see second photo, a large plant illuminated at night looks like a starscape). Used by Amerindian tribes as a ceremonial tobacco, today the plant's use can be primarily as a native hawkmoth attractant; larvae feed on the plants while the moths pollinate the flowers at night (and interestingly, if too many caterpillars are present they can make the plant switch to blooming in the daytime to reduce predation). Packets contain at least 100+ small seeds, that require no special treatment.
