Josh's Jersey Devil Carnivorous Plants. Located in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey (in the heart of Leeds' Devil territory!) I began like many others with a supermarket Venus Flytrap. Soon, I too became obsessed and ordered up every plant I found online, most of all I was intrigued by those from my home state. My fascination for these plants even lead me to study Environmental Science at my University where I was given the opportunity to research the very plants I fell in love with! Up for sale are propagated plants from my private collection. Lots of unique specimens, hybrids, temperate and tropical offerings. My schedule allows me to ship on Mondays currently. I ship via USPS Priority.

My Venus flytrap seed was hand harvested July 2021 from plants that I myself had grown from seed and were left to be pollinated by insects. The seed in question was sourced from "deluxe mixed cultivars", which means we're 2 generations in now! Many interesting plants grew from seed; red coloration, giant traps, short teeth, all green, ground hugging, elongated traps, extra long petioles, extra short petioles, you name it. Enjoy the same process I went through all those years ago! You will receive 50 seeds. Free shipping and no inspection required on seed-only orders.

Drosera adelae, or Lanceleaf Sundew, is one of the only rainforest sundews, part of the "Three sisters of Queensland" this Australian native is truly a windowsill plant! This is the giant variety, which grows larger than typical ones, though still smaller than a mature King Sundew. Drosera adelae is sometimes called "The poor man's Regia" due to its passing resemblance to the unrelated and more difficult to grow (as well as expensive) species, The King Sundew. Unlike the majority of sundews, this one requires low light and only thrives in very high humidity. A neat trick is to use a cut 2 liter clear plastic soda bottle as an improvised humidity dome! You will receive 1 small sized plant, bareroot.
  • Sold By: JerseyDevilCarnivorousPlants
A tropical forked leaf sundew that grows wildly bushy, tall, and has huge leaves that branch wildly in many directions. The forked leaf sundew is very easy to grow, right up there with the cape sundew! You will receive 1 small plant (bareroot).
  • Sold By: JerseyDevilCarnivorousPlants
A typical forked leaf sundew, this is a typical, unnamed variety that generally grows leaves that split in two, but occasionally will grow other crazy formations. This variety can grow quite tall and bushy! This variety survived winter in a cold frame (climate zone 7A)You will receive 1 medium/adult plant (bareroot)

Drosera filiformis "Florida red" is an easy to grow, vigorous threadleaf sundew that turns solid red in full sun. This variety is one of my favorites. Despite originating from a subtropical region, this variety does produce a winter hibernacula. You will receive 1 adult sized plant, bareroot.
  • Sold By: JerseyDevilCarnivorousPlants
Drosera filiformis "NJ Pine Barrens" is an easy to grow threadleaf sundew with long, slender green leaves and red tentacles whose genetics hail from the Pine Barrens of New Jersey (produced from either seed or division/clone). The leaves average 7-9 inches at maturity. Threadleaf sundews are easily one of the most effective hunters in my gardens, becoming decorated with insects collected over the summer like a morbid Christmas tree! This is a cold hardy variety that produces a winter hibernacula and will survive hard freezes. You will receive 1 adult sized plant, bareroot. TEMPERATE PLANTS ARE DORMANT FROM FALL INTO SPRING.

Drosera filiformis "Florida red" is an easy to grow, vigorous threadleaf sundew that turns solid red in full sun AND produces a white flower instead of the typical pink. This variety is one of my favorites. Despite originating from a subtropical region, this variety does produce a winter hibernacula. You will receive 1 young adult plant, bareroot.

The spoonleaf sundew, Drosera intermedia "NJ Pine Barrens" is a relatively small but very easy to care for sundew. This species grows in a rosetted or branching form with long petioles and a spoon shaped sticky trap at the end. These traps will curl over their prey items like grasping something in your palm. Capable of growing bushy and turning solid red in bright light, these Jersey Boys will stand out in any carnivore collection. This is a temperate variety and requires a winter dormancy. Bundle options available. You will receive your plants barerooted. TEMPERATE PLANTS ARE DORMANT FROM FALL INTO SPRING.

Drosera prolifera is one of the only rainforest sundews, part of the "Three sisters of Queensland" this Australian native is truly a windowsill plant! Unlike the majority of sundews, this one requires low light and only thrives in very high humidity. A neat trick is to use a cut 2 liter clear plastic soda bottle as an improvised humidity dome! You will receive 1 medium sized plant, bareroot.

The Roundleaf Sundew, Drosera rotundifolia "NJ Pine Barrens" is a relatively small but very easy to care for sundew with genetics hailing from the Pine Barrens of NJ (produced by seed or clone). This species grows in a rosetted form with long petioles and a round shaped sticky trap at the end. These traps will curl over their prey items like grasping something in your palm. In my experience, whereas most sundews are perfectly happy being blasted with sunlight, these roundleaf sundews prefer part shade or less intense sun, perfect for a windowsill. Drosera rotundifolia was one of Charles Darwin's favorite species, discussed in his second most famous work "Insectivorous Plants"!!! This is a temperate variety and requires a winter dormancy. You will receive 1 adult plant, bareroot.

Originally given the botanical name Drosera x beleziana but renamed Drosera x eloisiana, this cultivar is a naturally occurring hybrid temperate sundew (D. intermedia x D. rotundifolia) originating from Ocean County, NJ that is more vigorous and larger than either parent species. Its leaf shape is intermediate between its parents, but tends to resemble the spoonleaf sundew more. Though infertile, it was found overgrowing its parent species in its natural habitat because of its vigor! You will receive 1 young adult sized plant, bareroot.
